Regional Electrical Plant Engineer - Savannah GA or Baton Rouge LA

 Electrical Plant Engineer—Multi-site

1. Design and Development

  • Plan, design, and implement electrical systems for new or existing plant operations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates and create technical specifications for new equipment installations.
  • Ensure that design work adheres to industry standards, safety codes, and environmental regulations.

2. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Oversee and perform routine maintenance on electrical equipment, including MCCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgear, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Diagnose issues with electrical systems and perform troubleshooting to restore functionality, minimizing downtime.
  • Use diagnostic tools and electrical schematics to isolate faults and provide timely solutions.

3. Project Management

  • Manage electrical projects from inception through completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing contractors and vendors.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, safety personnel, and operations managers, to ensure project alignment with overall plant goals.
  • Monitor project progress and compliance with timelines and budgets.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure that all electrical installations and maintenance comply with local and federal safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety assessments and risk analysis to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Train and supervise plant personnel on electrical safety and operating procedures.

5. Optimization and Efficiency

  • Analyze plant processes and propose energy-efficient solutions to reduce energy consumption and operational costs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the performance and lifespan of electrical equipment.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.

6. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of electrical systems, including schematics, manuals, and maintenance logs.
  • Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and project status for plant management and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure proper documentation of safety procedures, risk assessments, and compliance certificates.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 5-15 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a plant or industrial setting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems.
    • Proficiency in using CAD software and electrical design tools.
    • Familiarity with safety standards, such as OSHA, NEC, and NFPA.
    • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Project management experience is a plus.
    • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Travel: Position involves ~20% travel.
